One Size does NOT Fit All

For a culture that prides itself in individuality, it’s a little surprising to ever see “one size fits all.”  From clothing to cars to ergonomic products, each individual needs something that fits him or her.  What good is a great pair of pants if they’re too short or too long?  Similarly, even cool office gadgets are of little benefit if they are ill-suited to your specific needs.  As a result, more and more products and gadgets are customizable and adjustable.  Here are just a few examples.

6 Adjustable &/Or Customizable Products

  • Large frame designer reading glasses.  If you’re bigger or taller, there’s no reason your reading glasses should be too small or out of date.
  • Sit or stand work stations, the One Step Adjustable Height (corner) desk, and the smart desk are great adjustable desk options.  Whether you need flexibility in how you work or you just need your desk to actually fit you, each of these ergonomic desks allow you that freedom.
  • Lever Keyboard Arm System.  Keyboard trays are an easy way to keep your keyboard and mouse side by side and in correct ergonomic position- your arms should form a straight line from your elbow through your middle finger as you type.  A keyboard tray allows you to raise or lower your keyboard and mouse to the best height for your frame.
  • Contour Mouse.  This is the only mouse that is literally designed to fit your hand, whether it’s petite, large, or “average.”
  • Ergonomic chairs with adjustable arm rests.  Most office chairs aren’t fully adjustable.  You need to be able to raise and lower the actual seat pan and back support, as well as the arm rests.  You should be able to sit with your feet flat on the floor, your back fairly straight, and your arms in a straight line form your elbow to your hands.
  • Split Keyboards.  Split keyboards allow you to separate the two halves of the keyboard as narrow or as wide as you like, offering more freedom in how you type.
The bottom line is that no matter whether you like the size of your bottom it is what it is, it should be comfortable at work.
