Why I Went Ergonomic & Wireless with My Mouse
Why I Went Ergonomic & Wireless
Man, I love my wireless mouse. It’s such a good fit for my hand. I first started looking for a wireless mouse because of the trouble I was having with my touchpad on my laptop. As nice as it is to have a built-in mouse, I was feeling discomfort after longer periods of typing and mousing, particularly in my forefinger. I will be the first to admit that I am not a fabulous typist, so it’s quite possible all the blame lies with me. That’s fine- who cares whose fault it is? I just wanted a better fit that would not leave my mousing hand, fingers, and wrist aching by the end of the day.
How to Choose a Wireless Mouse {hint: ergonomic is more important than wireless!}
There are a lot of wireless products out there- when choosing a mouse, it’s most important to find one that fits your hand. It doesn’t matter if there’s a mouse that’s top of the line and all your cool, techy friends have it, if it doesn’t fit your hand, don’t even consider it. To know if a mouse fits your hand, simply consider how it feels when you grip it. Most mice force you to twist your hand unnaturally to hover over it. However, there are a lot of ergonomic mice that are designed for a more natural, more comfortable fit.
-
Evoluent- a wired mouse that offers a handshake grasp which keeps your arm from twisting as you mouse.
- Aerobic- another wired mouse, but this one comes with right and left-handed options and a comfortable handshake fit for your hand.
- Renaissance- a fabulous wireless option with a joy stick grip. Great for ergonomic comfort and ease of use without wires.
I will say that ergonomic comfort, namely avoiding straining your arm, wrist, and even fingers, found in a good fit is the most important factor to consider. Going wireless is an added bonus. Thus, I love the Renaissance mouse for boasting of both.
If you’re looking for a better mouse, try an ergonomic mouse for comfort and ease of use.
